Breath of the Wild

Breathwork is an intervention tool used to access layers of the subconscious not readily accessible through our daily experiences. It allows the body to reach an altered state where Spirit takes lead and the vibrational frequency of the soul is discovered. What does this mean?

We develop patterns, or ways of living, over our lifetime that we tend to fall back into when life becomes unbalanced. For example, there may have been a traumatic event in our childhood that we may or may not remember, and when something happens in our current age that evokes a similar emotion, our body will recognize it as that said trauma and react in the way we did when we were the age it occurred. Gabor Mate’ often says trauma is not the event itself but what happens inside of us as a result, the loss of connection to oneself and to the present moment.

Doing this form of breathwork allows one access to this place of lost connection and brings awareness to the current time in order to heal. When we can experience a felt sense around our internal disconnection to self in a safe environment, we are better able to take care of ourselves when external stressors push against our center.

The only way to begin to trust oneself is to become aware of what is and is not serving. We have become a culture of the mind, needing everything validated by science or proven practices. We’ve forgotten the beauty of mystery. We’ve forgotten that we have an innate ability to know without seeking outside of ourselves for this knowledge.

Once we know what serves and what doesn’t, it is our responsibility to do something about it. Continual avoidance perpetuates illness. Tuning into the body’s yes allows for open flow, abundance, and contentment.

Finding one’s center is a core tenant of a peaceful life. This is being unswayed by the storm of the external environment. Meditation is one of the best consistent practices to come back to center, to build the memory muscle of what it means to be still in a sea of chaos.

Breathwork is like years of meditation in a one-hour setting and puts you in direct confrontation with that storm. Only you can choose whether to surrender or resist. Either option provides you with information to work with.

How you breathe tends to be how you live. One person might grip tightly to their beliefs and not allow flow to offer new perspectives while another may choose to sleep through life so as not to be disturbed on the surface.

When we learn to trust our feelings, speak our truth, and take the calculated steps toward moving away from a life of suffering, we transform. I would love the opportunity to be a guide in your process.
