Touched by an Angel

A while back I was trying to get my daughter out of the house for school and it was one loss of patience after another. I was craving reflection time, just a few moments of quiet before digging into the day of work ahead. Our boys had already caught the bus and all she wanted to do was sit down for a conversation.

On our way to her school, we were talking about our responsibility in getting ready and listening while I grappled with setting boundaries for a 4-year-old through a loving lens. I swear, in that very moment while I was driving, an angel reached in the car and put its hand on the back of my head.

I’ve never had this experience before and haven’t since, but I actually turned around to see if a bird had flown in my window and landed in my hair. It was that significant. Of course, there was nothing in the car.

My daughter came to me in a dream before she was born and let me know she was coming. She was our third child and the second surprise. Looking back I recognize how much of my fate I handed over to Spirit.

I realize 2 years later that while I was craving the chance to dig into the spiritual reflection work I’ve been practicing for years, the gift of all of it was in that interaction and reflection of our morning together.

My breathwork teacher always told me our work is in our relationships, and it would make the most sense that the morning I was touched by an angel, I was bypassing my daughter's gifts with my eyes on a Reiki Master certification.

The pure love she was offering me that morning is what we seek when we meditate or talk about awakenings. It is the closeness to God, the perfect innocence offered through a 4-year old’s desire to communicate with the person they hold dearest to their heart.

That understanding is where the spiritual connection exists.
